Chickweed Information

This delicate sprawling plant grows year round and can be found in all beds in the garden. Stems and leaves are edible and great addition to fresh salads, potato, macaroni, or egg salad. The flavor is delicate and gets along well with most other greens.
Nutrition- Chickweed contains vitamin C, rutin, biotin, choline, inositol, PABA, vitamin B6, B12, D and beta carotene (pre cursor to vitamin A), magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, zinc, phosphorus, and manganese.
Medicinal- chickweed tea is good for irritated skin conditions (cuts, wounds, itching, irritation), upset stomach, blocked kidneys, bladder or liver problems, arthritis, gout, joint, diseases, blood diseases, eye inflammations, asthma, tuberculosis, congested/infected lungs. Hot tea is a diuretic.
